Announcing Table of Contents Plus

Ok, so I’ve been quite slack in completing the Spark plugin which was going to be the be-all-and-end-all of super duper crowdsourcing needs. I’m still planning to complete it <one day>.

That said, I have submitted an application to host my new Table of Contents Plus plugin on the WordPress plugin directory. Once approved, you should be able to install it using the normal process including via the administration backend.

Why Plus? Cause it does more than a table of contents!

In the meantime, you can check out its plugin page which has more information about it, and some screenshots.

Sounds like you’re trying to build a complete website. This plugin deals with individual pages/posts (think Wikipedia). Additionally, the sitemap functionality lists pages in the page order you provided rather than alphabetical.

That said, you could probably achieve most of your needs using basic categories, tags and some use of WP_Query to list pages alphabetically. Obviously, this approach will require you to code.

  2. I should have added… To prevent excessive scrolling, will TOC+ allow the grouping of entries by alpha first letter, such that all entries beginning with the letter A can be grouped under “A”, all entries beginning with B grouped under “B”, etc… This “A” thru “Z” band to be a header.

  3. Hello,

Please forgive me if I’m not posting in the correct section of TOC+

I wonder if TOC+ will suit my (WordPress) needs… I want to use WP to create a wikipedia style local history site … Eventually the site could contain hundreds of brief profiles (thumbnails) of people, places, events in the history of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Now, I’ll prepare my entries (thumbnails) in random order, but I’d like the user to see an alpha list of the entries. Can TOC+ show an alpha list.

Also, will TOC+ allow me to nestle entries… In other words, will I be able to group, for instance, all the hotels under HOTELS and have the user click HOTELS to see a list of hotels, any of which can be clicked, leading to a description of a particular hotel?

    Thank you
