My first attempt at making an all time favourite took a little longer than anticipated but the results were yummo. The process was similar to the lamb with potato crust dish but this one didn’t have the oats but had more of a sauce in the mixture. I finished the night off with a well craved sticky date pudding.
My wikipedia kung fu has taught me that a shepherd’s pie is normally made out of lamb, while the cottage pie is made with beef. Maybe I’ve been eating lamb all this time and I had no idea… well that would invalidate my stance on lamb.
In total, I filled three large and a small ramekin.
If I had to choose between this and the lamb with potato crust dish, I’d be making this one more often as it tasted that degree better and that was a result of the moist mixture. But the previous dish was good too!
