Oven baked apple date crumble, served in an oven proof glass, or in some ugly ramekins if you’re me.
My normal apple crumble is wrapped in puff pastry, baked and then coupled with ice cream and custard. Yummo.
This one didn’t have any wrapping but I gave it a shot. It didn’t have any added sugar so I was wondering if it’ll be sour but it was sweetened with the dates. In fact, everything here is fresh and natural.
Apples, dates, freshly squeezed orange juice and a stick of cinnamon were cooked covered for a few minutes before placing into the ramekins and then sprinkled with slivered almonds, shreded coconut, and oats. In the oven for 10minutes then topped with ice cream and they were ready.
I liked that these were all natural and there were no added sweeteners. I would have preferred some pastry and double the ice cream. I think I’ll wrap these up next time.
